Yacht Club Argentino was established on July 2, 1883, under the leadership of Mr. Aguirre Hortensio Anchorena. Since its inception, the membership grew quickly and more boats were registered in the registration of the new club, one of the first in South America. Immediately, the new Steering Committee held its first regatta sailing with the presence of three sailboats.
In 1886 first International Race was planned with an idea to encourage the construction of ships sailing in the South American shipyards, where the route would be forty miles. As the fleet grew, it was required to have a safe anchorage, which was hard to find at that time in the River Plate thereafter, but was given a place in the Riachuelo and one in the Tiger.
As Authority Recognized by ISAF, until November 1998, has always attended the Assemblies and meetings of the International Entity and was also representative of the Group F comprising Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay, with a seat on the Council .
The club regularly sends delegates to meetings of the Offshore Racing Council, a body which deals with the technical regulations for measuring vessels handicap. For which it has official measurers and process the measurement certificates valid internationally, becoming the first holder of the machine to measure in South America.
As for representation before the Union Internationale Motonautique, which holds the vice Continental, the YCA attends all meetings, channeling all information related to regulations, Approvals, Records, and so on. And translating Competition Regulations.
The Club has 3300 members, 38 vessels it owns between boats for the organization and monitoring of races, sailboats to race, schools and cruise boats tyres, in addition to a large number of sailboats of the International Optimist Class and Cadet.
The Yacht Club Argentino headquarters are located:

It teaches courses on learning navigation, giving allotments sports Helmsman and Pattern sailing and motor yachts. It also organizes training courses and tactical racing boats in Class J 24 and Optimist International.
The Argentine Yacht Club maintains a leading cadre of teachers and coaches from their schools yachting in San Fernando, north dock and in Mar del Plata.
The club has a number of boats to school, walking and support for the races and infrastructure appropriate auxiliary boats and personnel to cover about 320 racing boats annually for Class International and 45 other yachts for Formula, in addition to racing Powerboating.
It has promoted and organized events with international experience and organizational skill level. Some of the events were the World Championship Offshore Class I and II in Mar del Plata, 1978. World Championships of the International Optimist Class, Buenos Aires, 1992 and Offshore Class 3 (6 liters) and Class 2, Mar del Plata 1992. Copa del Mundo Offshore Clase III (4 litros), 1992. World Cup Offshore Class III (4 liters), 1992.
