A. When you downloaded the software you may have chosen Run and not Save when prompted. You must save the installation file to your computer first, and then you may install it. Q. I can’t get the bathymetry data to install. What am I doing wrong?
A. There are 2 ways to install Bathymetry data, either using the complete file which covers Bathymetry for the entire globe, or for an isolated region. Instructions for both types of installations are provided as follows [NOTE: When prompted ALWAYS choose SAVE – to save the file to your computer first, then install when download is complete]:
-
-
Before the file downloads, you will be prompted to choose Run or Save. Choose the SAVE option only. Save the file to your desktop for easy access after the download is complete.
-
When the download is complete you may double-click on the icon to install the file – it will take several minutes for the installation to finish.
-
-
Scroll down to the map and click on the grid that represents the Region for your location.
-
When prompted click SAVE and save the file to your Desktop.
-
Open the ClearPoint Weather Client application and resize it so you can see both your Windows Desktop and the ClearPoint display.
-
Click, Hold and Drag the downloaded file on top of the ClearPoint display and release it. The file will automatically install into the ClearPoint Client application.
Q. I can’t connect and get the weather data. The connection window says “connecting” but it seems like it’s frozen.
A. It is critical that you have a solid connection to the Internet in order for the ClearPoint Weather Client to connect to the weather server. There are several items to check, that will help to insure a good connection to the ClearPoint servers:
-
Check that you have a good connection to the Internet
-
Diable all firewalls including Windows, as that may be blocking the connection
-
Look In the Advanced tab of the Windows Firewall, check that your connection is not still being blocked
-
Q. I can’t overlay certain features that I want to see. Why?
A Most of the Weather Features are colored to aid in visual identification of nuances in weather data. When certain features are overlaid - it can result in muddy, or unclear representations of the information. ClearPoint has enabled overlay of only those features that produce meaningful representations of the data while avoiding those that would result in indistinguishable information.
