ClearPoint has been tested in some of the most demanding weather forecasting environments, including the 2007 Valencia America’s Cup, where ClearPoint conducted side-by-side analysis of local observed sensor data and registered an extremely high correlation between real-time buoy weather data covering the course and ClearPoint’s global numerical forecast model covering the entire planet.

Experience has already taught the weather experts at ClearPoint that micro-scale features and 1.0 nautical mile forecasts are indeed not only useful, but also remarkably accurate. Perfect? Never. But, so far, more accurate than any other known weather model for wind forecasts. Most importantly, we continue to validate the model data with real-life, real-user experiences with renowned weather experts.

“Clean” Data
ClearPoint's WRF-Advanced models use the NOAA GFS data to initialize the runs every 6 hours. In the near future, we will be using "warm" runs for certain regions every 3 hours based on proprietary/public weather data inputs. How you use the NOAA GFS input data is only as good as the weather modeler(s) and the modifications(if any) to the WRF-Advanced model, as well. So far, our experienced team of weather researchers/modelers and Computer Sciences/Engineering are capable of generating consistent forecasts that have met or exceeded the expectations of some of the world's most sophisticated "consumers" of weather data.
