The ClearPoint service updates weather data as frequently as every five minutes, delivering automatic feeds on average once every hour. The forecast function allows users to “fast forward” or animate changing weather conditions on their screen for optimal route planning or itinerary scenario-planning, based on the distance, direction and bearing of vessels in relation to current location.

Equipment Requirements
ClearPoint weather service is compatible with virtually any communications link, including broadband connections, WiFi broadband cards, and marine satellite communications such as Iridium and Inmarsat to name a few. Hardware specified by your Satellite provider may be attached to your PC via USB, BlueTooth or serial connection and appropriate drivers and configurations. ClearPoint can then be configured to control that connection, thus connecting and disconnecting internet access once downloads have completed successfully. This provides a cost savings to the user by minimizing airtime use and associated charges.

ClearPoint can be downloaded as an approximately 18MB executable file over the worldwide web at: www.clearpointweather.com/download . The client can also be launched directly from a ClearPoint CD or portable flash drive.
