High definition weather system gives racers advantage in multi-island race
St Thomas, March 28, 2008 - ClearPoint Weather is helping sailors competing in the inaugural Virgin Islands Race Week, taking place March 28 to April 6 and presented by the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism and British Virgin Islands Tourist Board.
Virgin Islands Race Week comprises the International Rolex Regatta held in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the British Virgin Islands Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, hosted in Tortola and Virgin Gorda. Sailors can either race their own yachts or charter yachts for the race.
"ClearPoint Weather will be made available to all racers in this magnificent, multi-island competition, said Bill Sandberg, Virgin Islands Race Week organizer.”We are delighted to have ClearPoint Weather join us, not only as a sponsor, but as an integral tactical racing tool for the entire racing competition," said Sandberg.
Virgin Islands Race Week is built around a series of regattas that feature professional race management and a mix of round-the-buoys and round-the-islands courses that creates some intensive competition. Winners are determined based on combined scores from the International Rolex Regatta, the BVI Sailing Festival and the BVI Spring Regatta.
Sponsors for Virgin Islands Race Week include the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism, British Virgin Islands Tourist Board, Bitter End Yacht Club, Marriott's Frenchman's Cove, ONDECK Sailing, Havana Blue, Lotus and Fat Boy's restaurants, Herve's Restaurant and ClearPoint Weather.
